How I [REALLY] Balance Bows and Heels...

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind at work. I haven't worked less that 50+ hours the last 3 weeks, and not sure when it will slow down. My job is very interesting, do not get me wrong! The days fly by when we're this slammed so its actually pretty fun, the pressure of meeting important deadlines drives me to work so much harder! Downfall is I miss blogging more and doing what I love, but it is all about finding balance between Family, friends, work, and typing this post..

For starters, I've been getting questions like "what do you do for work?" Well I am a consultant at a huge investment bank here in Jacksonville. People think that may sound boring, but I'm in more of the operations part of it, soo nooo numbers (thank god, because I wasn't keen on math growing up). We help make sure our clients are in tip top shape so that they can do trades in the stock market ..ya ya ya... I'll loose y'all if I keep going! All my work is paying off next month because I'm flying up to NYC for a work trip to our annual black tie event! Its going to be a blast catching up with old friends, and being in the city! Consulting definitely has its perks.

Next question I often get is, how do I manage to do some much... ALL. THE. TIME. So I have always been the person to stay busy. I do like my down time at home every once in awhile, but nothing fulfills me more than doing all the things. I tend to get FOMO if I miss out on anything so I like to do everything. It can be a weakness of mine or a strength, depending on how you look at it :)
I thought I would share my usual schedule with y'all on how I fit it being a mom, wife, full time consultant and blogger... soo here it goes:

Monday - Friday:

  • 5:15 AM -  Wake up
  • 5:30- 6;:00 AM - Workout with the Beachbody Programs
    • These are great for me because I do them at home and they're only 30 minutes. Sometimes I change it up and go for a run.
  • 6:00 AM - Get coffee started and pack my lunch
    • I pack my lunch and snacks more often than not. I eat at my desk because I like to spend my lunch hour getting things done. You will read later what I do exactly later on in this post...
  • 6:15 AM - 6:30 AM - Shower & Pickout my outfit for the day
    • I save my hair washing days for the weekend. If you want to know my secret for going a whole week, I swear by baby powder. Dry shampoo does not work for me.
  • 6:30 - 6:40 AM - I get Harleigh up and ready
    • Harleigh's daycare offers healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks during the day so I save a ton of time not packing lunches or worrying about making breakfast. If she is hungry I usually pour her a cup of the Naked Smoothies. Every week I get the liter size at Publix to keep us stocked up in the fridge.
  • 6:40-7:00 AM - Hair, make up, and finish getting ready...
    • I'm going to be 100% real here. There are so many mornings the only thing getting done with my hair and 'Make-Up' is a brush through it and a makeup-less face. I don't feel like getting dolled up every single day so I will throw on a cute head band and run out the door. Its not realistic for me to set the expectation for my self that I'm going to go all glam at work. It takes a lot of time (which I don't have during the work week)
  • 7:00 - Post any content on Instagram.
    • I like to post first thing in the morning so that it is checked off for the day :)
  • 7:05 AM - 7:15 AM - Take Harleigh to school
  • 7:15- 8:00 AM - Drive to work
    • Sometimes it takes even longer depending on traffic! I drive from St. Augustine to work in JAX so traffic is nooo fun during the work and school week.
  • 8:00-11:30 AM -- WORK WORK WORK
  • 11:30-12:30 PM - Lunch Break / Time to work on my blog
    • I love love taking early lunches to avoid the lunch hour rush traffic. I ututlize this hour to take pics for content, or to find a coffee shop and catch up on emails and DMs. My hour for lunch is not actually a break, but I feel so much better when I get some blog related work done during this hour.
  • 12:30-5:45 PM -WORK WORK WORK
    • on a normal week I get off sometimes I don't get off until 10:00, so it depends)
  • 5:45 -6:30 (or 7:30) PM- Pick up Harleigh and either goto gymnastics or head home
    • On Tuesdays and Wednesdays Harleigh has Gymnastics until 7:30 so we don't get home until 8 on these nights
  • 6:30- 9 :00 PM - Dinner, baths, homework , PJs and bed for Harleigh!
    • For dinners on late nights I save a TON of time by getting the fresh and ready to cook meals from Publix (not sponsored). They are fresh meals premade and seasoned! All you have to do is throw them in a pan or oven for a yummy, quick dinner! Hightly recommend these if you have a Publix near by.
  • 9:00 PM-10:30 PM - Catch up with Drew and emails
    • Drew also has an unpredictable work schedule so sometimes he doesn't get home until much later...some times after mid-night. We both are very career driven, so our schedules can be hectic! (Both just trying to work our way up corporate America!)
    • This is also my last moment of the day to work on anything blog related so I try to utilize it if Drew isn't home. If he is home I don't really do much on Instagram or my blog.
  • 10:30 PM - Time to catch some zzzZZZZzzzz's
    • I'm the type of girl who has to have between 7-8 hours of sleep or I'm a zombie so I make myself goto bed no late than 10:30 every night.
So that is a normal schedule during the work week... Again, it can be unpredictable when I work 60+ hours because I'm not going to wake up and work out if I didn't get home until 11 at night. That is unrealistic for me to do!

On the weekends is when I really try to spend time getting things done and spending time with Drew and Harleigh. I balance this with also writing blog posts and planning content for the week!

A normal Saturday looks like this....

  • 7:00 AM - Everyone wakes up
  • 8:00 AM - Dunkin Run!
    • This has become me and Harleighs new Saturday morning ritual...we wake up and go through the drive thru in our pajamas and come get back in bed for a little bit. I always get a coffee and she gets the Strawberry Frosted sprinkle donut...literally has been the same order for a year now. Its a fun little thing we do together!
  • 8:30 AM - 10 AM - Bum It! (and draft up the weeks blog post)
    • We like to stay in bed, enjoy breakfast and just be lazy for most of the morning...its so nice to just turn off for a bit! My version of turning off is bringing my laptop in bed and drafting up blog posts... but hey at least I'm in bed.
  • 10 AM -11 AM - Clean the house and order my groceries from Instacart
    • Just discovered instacart last weekend and will be ordering my groceries from now on... it saves me hours out of my weekend!
  • 11 AM- 12 PM - Get ready for the day
  •  The rest of the day and weekend is Family and Friends time! We stay pretty busy seeing friends and family! sometimes we just spend time as just the 3 of us... or we are traveling. it all depends!
I hope this shows y'all a little real life... Instagram only shows some of the highlights of my week but the in-between moments are all work and responsibilities. Nothing special, but I'm thankful to have the responsibilities I do. They aren't fabulous or instagram worthy...but they're real and I love it.
